The Eurythmics will reunite to honour the Beatles for a special TV performance.

The synth-pop duo - made up of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart - haven't performed since 2005 and are planning to reunite for 'The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles'.

It will commemorate the Fab Four's legendary US debut on 'The Ed Sullivan Show' 50 years ago, the Recording Academy announced today (07.01.14).

The concert will also feature duets from Alicia Keys and John Legend, John Mayer and Keith Urban, as well as a performance by Maroon 5.

The Eurythmics released their debut album in 1981 and scored a hit with 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)', before the pair launched successful solo careers.

Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich told the Associated Press: ''What I felt was important was to try and find those artists who not only would be able to interpret Beatles songs, but would also have an ... understanding of what they meant.''

Dave Stewart has some personal connection to the evening's honourees after it was announced he was working with Ringo Starr on a film musical for Paramount called 'Hole in the Fence' in 2012, a coming-of-age tale about kids who form a band in a downtrodden mining town.

'The Night That Changed America' will be filmed at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 27, the day after the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, and will be broadcast on CBS on February 9.
