The Kinks rocker Dave Davies has spoken out to dismiss a report suggesting Jimmy Page played guitar on their 1964 song You Really Got Me.

Producers for a new Bbc Radio 2 documentary allege the Led Zeppelin star was recruited for the track, but Davies insists the claim is false.

Taking to to refute the report, he writes, "Bbc tells lies about Dave Davies and the Kinks in their new documentary...

"I, Dave Davies, invented the distorted guitar sound and played the solo on 'You Really Got Me' and (brother and bandmate) Ray Davies played rhythm guitar. We never used Any other guitarists on any Kinks hits."
