Village People star Felipe Rose plans to wear his Native American costume with pride at an upcoming Australian music festival despite a ban on feathered headdresses, according to his bandmate Alex Briley.

The Y.M.C.A. hitmakers have been booked to perform at the Golden Plains Festival in Australia next month (Mar15), and fans fear organisers could stop Rose wearing his feathered costume after they banned gig-goers from sporting Native American headdresses at the event.

However, Briley, who plays the band's military man, insists Rose still plans to wear his headdress and is fully justified because of his Native American roots.

He tells News.com.au, "He is Native American. As far as I know, Felipe is still going to wear his feathers and still going to be the perfect Native American that we've always known... He has visited many of his tribes in the states and we've met many, many across the country."

The Golden Plains Festival takes place in Victoria from 7-9 Match (15).
