Hugh Jackman - Woman Accused Of Stalking Hugh Jackman Declared Fit For Trial
A woman accused of attacking Hugh Jackman with an electric razor has been declared fit for trial after undergoing treatment at a mental health facility.
Katherine Thurston was arrested and charged with fourth-degree stalking last April (13) after approaching the Les Miserables star as he worked out in a New York gym and allegedly throwing the shaving device at him.
She was placed in a psychiatric hospital for six months following the incident, and she appeared before a Manhattan Supreme Court judge on Wednesday (15Jan14), when it was revealed that the suspect was mentally stable enough to face prosecution.
The judge set bond at $50,000 (£31,250), but allowed Thurston to be released for $25,000 (£15,625) cash.
The case has been adjourned until next month (Feb14), according to the New York Daily News.
Jackman, a married father of two, previously admitted the safety scare had prompted him to step up his personal security, stating, "The situation did make me re-assess the way I handle life... I value the idea of bringing up my family here (in America) in the most normal way possible... We can walk the streets, do what you want.
"I always shun the idea of security details; I thought that that sort of attitude actually brought that on... Ultimately, the priority is the protection of your family and I didn't want to be naive about the situation I'm in."
