Former Sugababes star Mutya Buena has been criticised by anti-drug campaigners for showing fans a photograph of her apparently inhaling nitrous oxide.

The British pop singer, who now performs as Mks with her fellow ex-Sugababes Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, recently posted the image online, depicting her inhaling from a long balloon typically inflated with the legal substance, known as 'laughing gas'.

Her actions have drawn criticism from officials at British anti-drug charity Re-Solv, who have branded the stunt "irresponsible", and now a spokesman for the singer tells British newspaper The Sun on Sunday, "If Mutya thought her actions would have a negative impact on her fans in any way she wouldn't have put the pictures up."
