Suge Knight, the former Death Row Records head honcho, became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter this weekend, with rumors suggesting he had been arrested over the death of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas in 1996. Knight's criminal record dates back to 1987, with a string of prison stints for drug possession, assaults, and probation violations.
So how true are the rumours? Well, not true at all, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer, who told E! News, "I don't have any information that Suge Knight has been arrested. We picked him up on some traffic warrants back in February and that is the last arrest I show for him". Knight was busted earlier this year for drug possession in a routine traffic stop and was briefly taken into custody. Although the Death Row man was never listed as a suspect in Shakur's murder, conspiracy theorists have always tied him to the crime. Nick Broomfield's feature length documentary 'Biggie & Tupac' interviews numerous individuals who claim that Suge Knight orchestrated the killing, with the possibility of Lapd collusion also examined.
Shakur recently made headlines after appearing in hologram form at the Coachella Festival. Following the appearance, Knight claimed he didn't believe the rapper was dead.
