THELMA AND LOUISE star Susan Sarandon complains the financial gender gap in Hollywood is still alive and kicking, but she insists female parts are always the best.

The ageing beauty is aware male actors are paid a staggering amount more than their female counterparts, despite the US movie industry's facade of equality - but a hefty pay-packet doesn't necessarily signify quality.

She says, "I wouldn't do most of the movies that the men do. They're not necessarily good parts."
