Leighton Meester has claimed her music career has been "easy" for her.

The 'Gossip Girl' star, who is famous for her love of fashion, claimed to get excited, not nervous, when she performs.

The 23-year-old said: "I like dancing anyway - and I love my music - so it's not that hard. It's fun. I'm like best friends with dancers, so it comes easily."

Discussing her clothing decisions, she claims to eschew the high-heeled shoes and smart wear of her 'Gossip Girl' alter-ego Blair Waldorf in favour of something more comfortable on stage.

She said: "I think I've become more in tune to a casual side that I never really knew.

"When I perform, I like to wear sneakers, pants and big baggy t-shirts and call it a day. And that can be really fun."

Leighton is currently working on her debut album and has taken tips about her career from 'Time After Time' singer Cyndi Lauper.

She said: "Recently I've spent a lot of time with Cyndi Lauper, and she's a legend. She gave me the advice,' Never sell your publishing', so I'll Take That."
