A New Year cruise ferrying fans of American Idol star Taylor Hicks and funk icon Maceo Parker from Florida to the Caribbean and back has returned after a drugs raid.
Reports suggest federal drug agents stormed the ship just before it was due to set sail last week (04Jan11) - with guests looking forward to high seas concerts by Hicks, Parker, the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir and the Robert Randolph Band.
The authorities seized illegal drugs, including Ecstasy and LSD, and arrested several revellers, who did not make the voyage.
The Jam Cruise left port following the raids and returned on Monday (10Jan11), according to Spinner.com.

What are you talking about?? It was a great and successful cruise. Suggest you look at all the great things being said on facebook about it. People had a great time and plan to go again next year. Hicks was greatly enjoyed. Don't know of any other idols that could hang with that caliber of musicians. But really you should quit just making things up and blowing them all out of proportion. Couple people got picked up before cruise took off. No big deal and everything went on as planned. Great cruise.

a few points of clarification-agents did not "storm the ship". There were at least 4 law enforcement agencies with 7 drug-sniffing dogs checking every person, piece of luggage, guitar, amplifier and head of lettuce boarding the ship. There were 15 arrests for personal-use quantities of illegal drugs. That's about 6 tenths of 1 percent of passengers from a taxpayer-funded operation in the $80,000 - $100,000 cost ballpark. Way to get a bang from your tax dollar. For NCL, Royal Carribbean and Carnival's sake, let's hope they don't ever make Viagra illegal. This did not "ruin" the cruise - it was one of the best jam cruises I've been on.The cruise I was on actually returned on Sunday, January 9. Other than these minor discrepancies, I'd say your reporting is spot on.
