Taylor Lautner - Taylor Lautner And Gus Van Sant For Unlikely Indie Flick
Taylor Lautner, the American actor best known for playing Jacob Black in the blockbuster Twilight franchise, is turning his attention to the indie scene after joining Gus Van Sant's as-yet-untitled low budget movie.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the heartthrob actor will star in and produce a new indie film, directed by the acclaimed Van Sant - perhaps best known for his haunting school-shooting movie 'Elephant'. The collaboration is an interesting one, given Lautner's film credits so far include Twilight, the rom-com 'Valentine's Day' and the fairly poorly received 'Abduction'. Van Sant is a two-time Oscar nominated director, known for his knack of discovering new talent and fulfilling acting potential. He directed a young Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in their breakthrough movie 'Good Will Hunting', while getting the best from River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves in his acclaimed 'My Own Private Idaho'. His classic flick 'Drugstore Cowboy' featured a much lauded performance from a 25-year-old Matt Dillon. Van Sant's latest movie 'Restless' received mixed reviews, but again relied on youthful talent, notably Mia Wasikowska and Dennis Hopper's son Henry.
The forthcoming collaboration may have been the result of a recent dinner Lautner had with Van Sant and 'Milk' screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. Afterwards, GQ Australia bluntly asked Taylor whether the men had made a pass at him, to which he replied, "No, definitely not... I think they know I'm straight. But they're great guys. They're a lot of fun".
