Dave Grohl wants to record with Tenacious D again.

The Foo Fighters main man played drums on the comedy rock duo's self titled 2001 debut album and their 2012 record 'Rize of the Fenix' which he said was ''maybe the hardest gig ever''.

The 44-year-old told his fans in a live chat on Reddit: ''[It's] so hard to play the drums when you're laughing hysterically and tears are rolling down you cheeks.''

But when asked if he will be working on more records with Tenacious D - made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass - in the future, Dave replied: ''YES.''

He also joked about playing the role of Satan in duo's comedy film 'Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny'.

Dave said: ''It was easy. All I had to do was take off my Dave Grohl mask.''

The web chat also revealed the 'Everlong' rocker has ambitions to host US sketch show 'Saturday Night Live'. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest, with stars recently including Justin Bieber and Jamie Foxx.

He said: ''Hosting SNL is the last item on my bucket list - so we'll see what happens.''
