Director Terry Gilliam has hinted he's sick of being quizzed about his Monty Python co-stars, by declaring his former comedy colleagues are all dead.

The Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas film-maker made the false announcement at a recent movie premiere in London, suggesting TV footage of the sketch show comics is dated, and this, he quips, is because they've all passed away.

Speaking of his ex-collaborators John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin and Terry Jones, he said, "They're all dead. I'm the only one left.

"You see Michael Palin going around the world but those were all filmed 10 years ago when he was young and handsome."
