Matthew Mcconaughey believes being a father makes him a better actor.

The 42-year-old star - who has three-year-old son Levi and daughter Vida, two, with fiancée Camila Alves - has learned how to be better at his job since having children because they remind him to always ''play make believe''.

He said: ''It is more fun, because the kids remind you to play make believe every day.

''More things sound fun to do, because the kids remind you to play make believe and that's what we are doing. If we do it well, we make you believe.''

Matthew recently moved back to his native Texas with his family, and he admits he is enjoying his home comforts there.

He told People.com: ''Austin is more of an identity town that it is an industry town. It feels good to be back home. It feels good to have my family here, my kids here.''

The 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past' star recently claimed he loved living in Texas because the weekend seems to come around sooner.

He said: ''Fridays show up sooner here. You want to get along in Austin, you want to get along in Texas, all you have to do is be yourself.''
