Davy Jones funeral was held yesterday (Wednesday March 7, 2012) in Florida, near the home where he lived and passed away. The funeral was attended by his immediate family, Reuters reports. Guests are said to have included his wife - Jessica Pacheco-Jones - and daughters but his fellow Monkees bandmates had been asked to stay away, to prevent the service from becoming a media spectacle. It is thought that they respected the family's wishes. Jones' ashes will be cremated and returned to his birthplace of Manchester, England, his publicist has confirmed.
Davy Jones was the sole British member of the manufactured 1960s pop band. He was fondly referred to as the Manchester Cowboy and it is thought that a memorial service for the endearing entertainer will be held in Manchester next week. It has not yet been confirmed whether or not Mickey Dolenz, Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork will attend or even perform at the memorial. Davy Jones was the lead singer of the group, who had international hits with tracks such as 'Daydream Believer' and 'Last Train to Clarksville.'
