The Mummy screenwriter Lloyd Fonvielle has passed away at the age of 64.

The writer was found dead at his Las Vegas apartment on 19 February (15), and coroners have attributed his cause of death to hypertension and lung disease chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Copd).

Fonvielle penned screenplays for 1980s movies The Lords of Discipline and The Bride, and helped actor/director Jeff Goldblum land an Oscar nomination for his short film Little Surprises in 1996.

His other film credits include Melanie Griffith's sci-fi film Cherry 2000 and Tv movie Gotham, which he wrote and directed in 1988, while he also received a story credit for 1999 blockbuster The Mummy.
