Former Madness and The Smiths manager MATTHEW SZTUMPF has died suddenly from a brain aneurysm.
Sztumpf also managed 1980s group Swing Out Sister during a long and successful career, and he most recently served as tour manager for British band Scouting for Girls.
Following his death at the weekend (20-21Mar10), Swing Out Sister singer Corinne Drewery paid tribute to Sztumpf in a post on the band's Facebook.com page.
The message reads, "We are so sorry to hear the news of the passing of Matthew Sztumpf, Swing Out Sister's first manager. Matthew guided us through most of the important decisions made at the start of our career.
"Such a great chap and a gentleman gone, he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family."
Sztumpf is survived by his wife Jan and daughters Hannah and Chloe.
