The Sopranos star Lorraine Bracco prioritised her own health following the death of her parents by overhauling her diet and lifestyle.

The actress lost both her mother and father in 2011, and she spent months caring for them both before they passed away.

Bracco, 59, admits seeing her loved ones suffer from ill health persuaded her to start taking care of herself, and she has since lost 35 pounds (16 kilograms).

She tells America's ABC News, "We were sitting there, dividing these medications, who gets what, when. It was insane. I watched and realised, 'I don't want to go like that. I said, 'I want to be the best I could be.' I want to live every day the best I can be... The last person on the take care of list was me. I let myself go... I laugh because I used to wake up and everything ached before I got out of bed. Now I jump out of bed! I'm doing something right."
