Irish rockers U2 were presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the NORDOFF-ROBBINS SILVER CLEF AWARDS in London on Friday night (17JUN05).

The Vertigo hitmakers - who formed in 1977 - were awarded the prize at the 30th anniversary of the annual charity awards ceremony, which raises money for music therapy.

Veterans rockers The Who won the 30th anniversary award, and Live 8 organiser Bob Geldof received an international award for his work in Africa. An auction of rock memorabilia raised a record $642,000 (GBP338,000) for the charity.
