Thia Megia has become the overnight favourite to win this year's American Idol after delivering a note-perfect performance on last night's Motown themed show.Thia Megia, the 15-year-old finalist on this year's American Idol, stunned the judges on yesterday's show and was immediately being talked of as the new favourite to win the reality singing contest, reports Yahoo News.Megia bounced back from the heavy criticism that she received last week to perform an upbeat rendition of the Martha & The Vandellas hit 'Heatwave', which drew unanimous praise from the judging panel. Jennifer Lopez was particularly complimentary, saying, "It was great to see you let loose like that". After coming under fire for her apparent reliance on 'big ballads', Megia had hit back at Randy Jackson, saying, "I can do so much more than that, though. I mean, I'm not just a ballad singer", and she proved her versatility on last night's show.
Although Thia Megia drew the most positive comments from the judging panel, Scott Mcreery continued his good form in the competition and Lauren Alaina's performance was also well-received. Stefano Langone is heavily fancied to depart in tonight's elimination show, after his rendition of Lionel Richie's 'Hello' was roundly criticised.
