Chris Hemsworth's mum used to think he was more like a ''daughter''.

The 'Thor' star - whose brothers Liam and Luke are also actors - admitted his mother used to regard him as female because he was ''far better'' at sharing his thoughts and emotions with her than either of his siblings.

He explained: ''I'd like to think I'm a normal sort of guy, but go to my mum and she'll probably say, 'You know, Chris was always the daughter out of my three boys'.

''I was just far better at talking to my mum about things - probably more than she wanted to know most of the time - while my other brothers kept things to themselves.''

The Australian hunk also explained while he and brother Liam Hemsworth - who stars in 'The Hunger Games' and is currently dating Miley Cyrus - had to battle it out for a role in 'Thor', it was a process of teamwork which got him the part.

Chris added in an interview with Britain's Glamour magazine: ''That's the only time we've gone for the same role and it was to both our benefits.

''I'd had an audition originally and it went nowhere, and then Liam went in and got down to the last five guys, but they said, 'He's great, but he's a bit young'. Then I got another shot because they were like, 'Oh that's right, Liam's got an older brother'.

''So it was a team effort, we were never head-to-head with it.''
