Actress Tia Mowry is urging fans to go vegan after cutting animal products from her diet and experiencing a number of health benefits.
The former Sister, Sister star adopted the new meal plan earlier this year (13) and now she has teamed up with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) to encourage others to follow suit.
In a behind-the-scenes clip from her Peta photoshoot, she says, "I feel that I'm becoming more conscious about what's going into my body and I feel great because I'm making healthy and better choices. I feel so amazing after I eat vegetables or grains. I don't feel sluggish.
"When you do tend to eat meat, it's rather filling and full, it's extremely acidic in the body. It's full of fat. It clogs up the arteries. There's a lot of antibiotics, hormones going into your body, it's disgusting... Some people say it doesn't taste great or it doesn't taste good - don't knock it until you try it! The taste is very vibrant and it's very satisfying."
And Mowry insists she feels great knowing she's helping the environment too: "Not only am I helping myself, I'm helping many animals out there... What happens to these beautiful animals and these beautiful creatures, it's mind-blowing and it's just sad. I think some people are afraid to really know what really goes on, so they think ignorance is bliss. But unfortunately not in this case."
