Los Angeles Sued Over Cancelled Tiesto Concert
A U.S. concert promoter is suing the city of Los Angeles after officials cancelled a concert by Dutch DJ Tiesto.
The dance star was scheduled to perform at the L.A. Covention Center in October (10), but city bosses have pulled the plug.
It's thought the decision was prompted by the drug overdose death of a 15 year old girl at an event held by the same promoter earlier this year (10).
And bosses at organisers Insomniac are furious, insisting they have a proven track record for safety - having staged five Tiesto concerts in Los Angeles without incident.
They are suing for breach of contract and seeking damages of at least $1,015,180 (GBP676,000), citing a loss of profit of $436,250 (GBP290,000) and an estimated production cost of $668,750 (GBP445,000). Court documents state that Tiësto was guaranteed $250,000 (GBP167,000) for the single-night event.
It's been an incident-laden summer for Tiesto, who was last month (Aug10) forced to deny reports he had died in a car crash.
