Country superstar Tim Mcgraw has picked up one of the most bizarre honours of his career - as an Italian-American.

The singer, who is married to Faith Hill, was presented with a Special Achievement Award by the NATIONAL ITALIAN AMERICAN FOUNDATION in Washington on Saturday (16OCT04).

The organisation's bosses, who have honoured Al Pacino and John Travolta in the past, offered McGraw the prize after learning that his mother's family is Italian.
