Tokimonsta Announces New Album 'Half Shadows' Due Out April 9 2013

On "Go With It," Tokimonsta unleashes a forward thinking production of rhythmic beats with strong melodies, supported with an uplifting vocal by MNDR.  Today (March 25) the Los Angeles-based songwriter/producer/beatmaker celebrates the premiere of its accompanying video as a VIMEO Staff Pick.

Filmed at The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood and other locations in Southern California, TOKiMONSTA collaborated with visual artists High5Collective who've who have recently created videos for Alexander Spit and Felix Da Housecat.  Prominent Hollywood marketing and promotions manager Bo Burroughs is the featured lead, while TOKiMONSTA and MNDR have cameos in it as well.  "Go With It" was released as a single on Ultra Music in late February and will appear on her new studio album HALF SHADOWS that's set for release April 9.

Known for her unique take on indie electronic/R&B/dance music, TOKiMONSTA's classical upbringing and eclectic music taste has allowed her to create vast textural soundscapes-a reverberation that fuses vintage sensibilities with progressive inclinations.   Not only has she caught ears of many as a different dimension of Los Angeles-based music, TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) is notably the first female to join Flying Lotus' crew/label BRAINFEEDER, which is on the forefront of the LA music scene.

Due out on April 9 on Ultra Music, HALF SHADOWS features 13 new studio productions including her two most recent singles: "The Force" featuring eclectic rapper Kool Keith and "Go With It."  Inspired by one of her favorite books--Kafka On The Shore by Haruki Murakami--HALF SHADOWS takes the listener on a mind-bending sonic journey.  There are vocal collaborations with Los Angeles songwriter and vocalist Gavin Turek, (who also appeared on TOKi's Creature Dreams EP), Andreya Triana, a British songstress from the Ninja Tune family, and Jesse Boykins III, an emerging soul singer from Chicago by way of NYC.  There are also tracks such as "808," named for the Roland drum machine, "Soul To Seoul," an homage to TOKi's Korean lineage, and "Waiting For The Break of Dawn."
