The priest of the Italian town where Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes on Saturday (18NOV06) rang his church bells louder and for longer during the couple's ceremony, to voice his displeasure of their un-Christian ceremony. Despite being raised a strict Catholic, Holmes converted to the Top Gun actor's controversial Scientology religion when they began dating last year (05) and shocked Christians when she gave birth to their daughter SURI this year (APR06) out of wedlock. Priest NICOLA FIORENTINI was unimpressed to learn the couple had married in a Scientology ceremony in Castello Odescalchi in Bracciano, Italy - several days after a legal ceremony in Los Angeles. During the 20-minute sunset ceremony, Fiorentini ordered the church bells be rung for longer during evening Mass. Fiorentini says, "It wasn't a wedding at all. It was just for publicity. "A pope once stayed at the castle, now we have this. It's shameful and an offence."
