Tony Scott's Funeral took place on Friday this week (August 24th), a mere five days after the famed director tragically took his own life by leaping from atop the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles.
The Top Gun director's memorial service was a family-only occasion, with his brother Ridley Scott just one of the few next of kin in attendance at the private ceremony, Tmz reports. His wife Donna Wilson Scott, and their twin sons, Frank and Max, both 12, are also believed to have been in attendance at the LA ceremony too.
Scott was a man who often worked with Hollywood's elite in his films, and his back catalogue has no shortage of star power in it. As such, when news of his suicide broke, many of Hollywood's top performers including Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman and Keira Knightley have since paid their tributes to him. Fellow directors, such as Ron Howard and Robert Rodriguez, have also paid tribute to the director, thanking him for his influence over their careers.
Reasons as to why Scott committed suicide are still unknown, with many speculating that the director was suffering from an inoperable brain tumour at the time. However, doubts have since been cast over this speculation after his widow told investigators the tumour claim was "absolutely false", Tmz also reports.
