Tom Cruise let off some steam on the set of his forthcoming sci-fi action flick 'Oblivion', clutching onto a laser gun and shooting it into the distance. Cruise is currently filming the movie in the Mammoth Lakes area of California, and donned a pair of space-age boots and body armour for the shoot on Wednesday (July 11, 2012).
The 50-year-old, still coming to terms with his divorce from Katie Holmes, was probably delighted to see his 17-year-old son Connor, who joined him on-set and watched the action unfold from the side-lines. Despite the shock nature of their split, Tom and Katie have already settled their divorce, with the actress gaining sole custody of their 6-year-old daughter Suri while Cruise is handed generous visitation rights. According to the UK's Sun newspaper, they have split their considerable assets down the middle, though Tom's vast personal wealth is safe, as the pair signed prenuptial agreements before marrying.
As yet, it's unclear how the divorce - which put Cruise's affiliation with the Church of Scientology under the microscope - will affect his career. The actor is still valued as one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood, and 'Oblivion' will be one of his first movies to be released following the split. Also starring Morgan Freeman, the films follows the story of a veteran soldier who receives a court martial to travel to a distant planet where he is to destroy the remains of an alien race.
