THE DARK KNIGHT RISES trailer, which has officially hit the web after premiering in cinemas over the weekend, includes a showdown between the Caped Crusader and his nemesis Bane, played by Tom Hardy. The one-and-a-half minute promo, screened before the final instalment of Harry Potter, gives fans their first glimpse of the hugely anticipated movie.
The genetically built villain 'Bane' is seen going head-to-head with Christian Bale's Batman, in what fans are speculating could be one of the movie's concluding scenes. Bane wears a dark leather mask, obscuring most of his face. At the beginning of the clip, Commissioner Gordon played by Gary Oldman is seen lying in a hospital bed telling Bruce Wayne, "We were in this together, and then you were gone. And now this evil rises. The Batman has to come back". In Christopher Nolan's acclaimed 'The Dark Knight', Batman was forced to go into hiding after taking the blame for the murderous exploits of Heath Ledger's 'The Joker' and Harvey 'Two Face' Dent. The remaining seconds of the trailer is filled with panning shots of a crumbling Gotham City, before the famous Bat symbol emerges in the sky.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES trailer features neither Anne Hathaway as 'Catwoman' or Joseph Gordon-Levitt in his new role as 'John Blake'.
