Tom Hiddleston has signed up to star in 'Only Lovers Left Alive'.

The 'War Horse' actor - who will next be seen in eagerly anticipated Marvel comic movie 'The Avengers' - will star alongside Tilda Swinton and Mia Wasikowska in the vampire picture, to be directed by Jim Jarmusch.

Little is known about the storyline, but it is known to tell the tale of two vampires who have been in love for centuries.

Speaking about the movie last year, Jarmusch told Screen Daily: "I've been imagining this film for years.

"I can't wait to now realise it with these remarkable collaborators."

It is expected the movie will shoot in Germany later this year, and has picked up a $1.45 million financing package from state film body Filmstifftung NRW.

Tom - who was this year nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star award - is set to have a busy year ahead; in addition to currently shooting TV film 'Henry V', he is also set to reprise the role of villainous Loki in 'Thor 2' opposite Chris Hemsworth.
