Tracy Morgan is expected to spend several weeks in hospital following a car crash yesterday (07.06.14).

The '30 Rock' star sustained a number of injuries - including a broken femur, a broken nose and broken ribs - after the limo bus he was travelling in overturned when a Walmart van ploughed into it on the New Jersey Turnpike.

The 45-year-old comedian, who is currently in intensive care, underwent surgery on his broken leg this morning (08.06.14) and is now a little more responsive, but remains in a critical condition, his representative told TMZ.com.

The spokesperson added: ''His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.''

Tracy was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, along with his friend and travelling partner Ardie Fuqua.

Four other people were inside the truck with Tracy and Ardie, and six vehicles in total were involved in the crash.

Another passenger, James McNair, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Walmart van, Kevin Roper, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.

Tracy, known for his role on 'Saturday Night Live', was scheduled to perform at a casino in Dover, Delaware, on Friday night (06.06.14) and was believed to be travelling back home to Bergen County, New Jersey, when the collision happened.
