The latest Transformers film has shattered box office records in Hong Kong by becoming the first movie to break $1 million (Gbp590,000) in a day.

The fourth instalment of the robot wars franchise, which was partly shot in Hong Kong, grossed $1 million in the 24 hours since its release on 26 June (14).

The blockbuster has landed the all-time highest-grossing non-holiday opening, beating out last year's (13) Iron Man 3.

The film's world premiere was held in Hong Kong on 19 June (14).
