Rapper Turk is to be released from prison in October (12) after serving nearly nine years behind bars.
The hip-hop star was convicted of weapons charges in 2005 and sentenced to 10 years in jail stemming from the shooting of a police officer in Memphis, Tennessee in 2004.
He has now been given a release date and is set to walk free from a penitentiary in Arkansas on 12 October (12), according to Allhiphop.com.
Turk - real name Tab Virgil, Jr. - shot to fame as part of hip-hop group Hot Boys but also scored a hit with his debut solo album, Young & Thuggin', in 2001. Two albums of his work have also been released since he was jailed.
