Moviemaker Tyler Perry is mourning the death of his mother by taking his outspoken matriarch character MADEA back on tour - for the first time in five years.
Willie Maxine Perry died on 8 December (09), aged 64. The producer and actor has credited her as the basis for the central character of numerous films, including Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail.
He will begin touring with his new play Madea's Big Happy Family in the U.S., portraying the sharp-tongued Southern matriarch in his infamous wig and padded suit.
Perry posted a message on his website on Saturday (26Dec09), revealing he took time off in recent months "so I could spend my mother's final days at her side".
The first leg of the tour begins on 4 January (09) in El Paso, Texas.
