DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON is set to star in mythological movie 'Lore'.

The muscular actor - who is currently filming a role in body building movie 'Pain and Gain' - has signed up to the Warner Bros. movie, currently being written by Jeremy Lott and Cory Goodman.

The movie is based on a graphic novel and will be produced by Andrew Lazar, David Alpert and Rick Jacobs, Deadline.com reports.

It is believed the story has a similar to feel to Will Smith comedy sci-fi series 'Men In Black', with Dwayne's character is charged with keeping a group of creatures at bay and keeping humanity safe from them.

Ashley Wood, who created the graphic novel, will be an executive producer on the picture.

The 6ft 5 inch tall actor recently starred in 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' alongside Vanessa Hudgens, and will next be seen in 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' in the role of road block.

'Pain and Gain', which is being directed by Michael Bay, also stars Mark Wahlberg and Ed Harris and is due for release in 2013.
