Robert Pattinson says his relationship with Kristen Stewart has been "traumatic" because of the intense public interest.

The actor and the actress' relationship has been the subject of countless headlines, but the handsome star is hopeful the scrutiny will die down once the 'Twlight' movies have wrapped.

Speaking about his relationship with 20-year-old Kristen, he told Vanity Fair magazine: "It's just very traumatic. When this is over, the media will lose interest. There'll be nothing to say. It won't fit into a headline anymore. It won't fit into a template.

"But there's nothing you can do about it - that's the way it is. But it is weird being part of that, kind of representing something you don't particularly like."

Although the circus surrounding him and Kristen sometimes frustrates him, Robert has nothing but praise for the screen beauty.

The 24-year-old actor said: "Kristen is very focused on being an actress. I mean, that's what she is - she's an actress. Whereas I just don't really know (who I am).

"She's cool. Even before I knew her I thought she was a really good actress. Like, I saw 'Into The Wild', and I thought she was really good in that."
