David and Victoria Beckham are spending £1 million on security for their new home.

The couple and their four children - Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, Cruz, eight, and Harper, two - are preparing to move into a £31.5 million London property and they are determined to make the abode as secure as possible, with state-of-the art entry systems and a special panic room.

A source said: ''They will have a panic room, a 24-hour, 60-camera CCTV system they can check from anywhere in the world, and fingerprint-recognition entry phones.''

It was recently revealed Harper's bedroom will boast a £600,000 Damian Hirst painting, and the boys will also hang expensive artworks in their rooms.

A source told Grazia magazine: ''The boys will continue the art theme with prints by Banksy in each of their bedrooms.''

Victoria's interior designer friend Kelly Hoppen is overseeing the renovations, and has held individual consultations with the boys into what they want from their spaces, while Harper's room will reportedly boast a butterfly-decorated princess bed and walk-in wardrobe.

The fashion designer is installing a manicure and hair salon and spa into the property, while David has requested an elevator and luxury kitchen, which his pal Gordon Ramsay has helped design.

The source said of Gordon: ''He has advised on the best equipment. There will even be a dessert station and room to cater for up to 50 people.''
