Former Village People star Victor Willis has recorded a U.S. response to Band Aid's Ebola relief charity single.

The Y.M.C.A. hitmaker has recorded Save The People (Save The World) with his wife Karen and he insists his song is a more uplifting tune than Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's reworked Band Aid anthem Do They Know It's Christmas?

He tells Wenn, "I decided to write a song and produce a music video dedicated to the Ebola crisis.

"It is clearly calling on the public for assistance. However, at the same time, it is not in your face."

Proceeds from the sales of the iTunes release will benefit charities helping volunteers fight the Ebola crisis in West Africa and beyond.

The track will be available to download on 8 December (14) with a Cd release planned for 5 January (15).

Band Aid's new Ebola relief single has already topped the charts in Europe following its release last month (Nov13). The song features the talents of One Direction, Sinead O'Connor, Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran, among others.
