Cabaret star Wayne Newton has become the first celebrity to light up Las Vegas' new Walk of Stars.

Las Vegas Boulevard South is set to mirror the Walk of Fame in Hollywood as cabaret stars who are popular in Sin City are immortalised on the pavement.

And Newton, dubbed MR LAS VEGAS, was the new tourist spot's first inductee yesterday (27OCT04).

Newton's star will be placed outside the New Frontier Hotel, where the crooner performed for 15 years.

The DANKE SCHOEN singer was on hand to take part in the ceremony after returning from a USO Tour in Iraq at the weekend (23OCT04).

Other names that have been mentioned for the Las Vegas honour include members of the RAT PACK, Elvis Presley, SIEGFRIED + ROY and Liberace.
