Jack White, former guitarist and singer with the recently defunct rock band the White Stripes, overtook Adele at the top of the UK album charts with his debut solo album Blunderbuss. Sales for Blunderbuss reached 40,000 on midnight Saturday (April 28, 2012), compared to a slightly more modest 15,000 for Adele's 21.
Jack first found fame with his ex-wife Meg (drummer) in the alternative rock band The White Stripes formed in 1997. Their last three albums before splitting (Elephant, Get Behind Me Satan and Icky Thump) each won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. The duo are now divorced. Adele's 21, which had been at the top of the album charts for over a year, has dropped down to number two while Lana Del Rey with Born To Die goes to number three and Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday at number four.
Jack recently revealed that "I've got another 12 songs that I finished yet"; a statement that has left us all strongly anticipating another incredible record!
