R&B star Bobby Brown has publicly offered up his moral support to ex-wife Whitney Houston's mother Cissy, saying, "I love her dearly and I'm here anytime she wants to talk."
The New Edition singer has struggled to maintain a good reputation in the eyes of Houston's relatives as he has long been targeted as the man behind the superstar's drug troubles and eventual fall from grace.
And when the I Will Always Love You legend died suddenly in February (12), reports surfaced suggesting Brown wouldn't even be invited to the funeral due to family disdain.
But the My Prerogative singer has now touched on his rumoured rocky relationship with Cissy Houston, revealing the pair hasn't spoken since the pop star's passing.
During an interview with breakfast show Today, which aired in America on Thursday (03May12), he said, "I tried to reach out to Whitney's mum - I haven't been able to reach her yet. I know she's going through it (the grieving process) deeply, deeply going through it - she lost her only daughter."
However, Brown doesn't hold a grudge against his former mother-in-law for keeping her distance, insisting he'll always be available if she needs a shoulder to cry on, adding, "I love her dearly and I'm here any time she wants to talk."
