Actress/singer Whoopi Goldberg has to use hearing aids whenever she is at home after damaging her ear health during her youth.

The Sister Act star, 59, made the confession during Monday's (02Mar15) episode of her U.S. talk show The View after discussing a new warning issued by World Health Organisation (Who) officials, who are advising music lovers to limit listening to an hour a day to avoid hearing loss.

During the conversation, Goldberg blamed her love of rock 'n' roll for her hearing issues, revealing, "I have hearing aids... I wear them at my house, mostly because I like everything really loud. Sixties' rock 'n' roll, you go to the (concert venue) and you're standing right next to the speakers. It's amazing we can hear anything."

The Oscar and Grammy winner then urged fans to take care of their hearing before it's too late, saying: "If you have any hearing loss, make sure you go and get yourself checked out, because... if you can stop it, you should. Stop it in its tracks because not being able to hear is a bit of a b**ch, I can tell you that from experience."

Goldberg isn't the only presenter of The View to struggle with hearing issues - fellow actress and co-host Rosie Perez admitted, "When I was a choreographer, I always had the Walkman on and I did lose some hearing because of it, so now, if I do use the earbuds (headphones), it's set to 15 minutes, 20 minutes, and I get paranoid and I take them out."
