British rapper Wiley leaked his own album on Tuesday (19Mar20) after record executives allegedly failed to correct a mistake on the record.

The Heatwave hitmaker's ninth studio album The Ascent was due to be released on 1 April (13) through Warner Records, but the star made it available via his Facebook.com page 12 days early.

He took to his Twitter account before the leak to explain he had become embroiled in a dispute over the editing of one of the tracks, writing, "I am leaking my album at 7... Americans do it so I am doing it... If iTunes don't do what I say I am leaking the album at 7 and I am not joking... I made a mistake on the album I need to make a change if iTunes cannot change the mistake I will leak it.

"I hate being a (sic) idiot but sometimes people only listen when you are being a (sic) idiot. All day my label and manager have been ignoring me ya na (sic) and now they are talking to me. A million events have led up to this day as well."

On Wednesday (20Mar13), the star re-tweeted messages of support from fans who had listened to the leaked album before it was removed from his Facebook page.
