Mayor Hopes To Inspire Homeless With Will Smith Film
Chattanooga, Tennessee Mayor RON LITTLEFIELD is hoping to inspire his city's homeless population after screening Will Smith's new rags-to-riches movie THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS for them.
The new film, in which Smith portrays real-life homeless hero CHRIS GARDNER, touched the Mayor because his own father was homeless for a brief period.
And so he staged a private screening for the down-and-outs in the hope that the story of how a desperate dad became a stock market champion will inspire them to make something of their lives.
After the screening, held on Friday (15DEC06) in a downtown Chattanooga theatre, Littlefield said, "This is not going to drastically change anyone's life but it's a good way to illustrate that homelessness is not permanent."
