Actor William Baldwin pulled some strings to get his wife Chynna Phillips on the Dancing With The Stars dancefloor, because he thought the hit U.S. show would help revitalise her singing career.
The actor thought a spot on the popular programme might benefit Phillips - so he contacted the TV bosses to sell them on the idea.
Hold On singer Chynna explains, "Billy said, 'Chynna, why aren't you on Dancing With the Stars...? And I was like, 'Alright, well if you can get me on it, I'll do it.' And he made a few phone calls, and the next thing you know, I was on it. and I was like, 'Ah, now I have to do it.'"
And Baldwin adds, "I just thought, from a career perspective... I mean (Chynna's band) Wilson Phillips was the number one female band in history, they passed Diana Ross (and The Supremes). And now, 20 years later, if you're trying to re-brand, re-franchise and make yourself relevant in the entertainment industry again, what better way to do it than in front of 20-some-odd-million people every week?"
