Country star Willie Nelson visited longtime pal Jimmy Carter recently, to tape a TV special and free concert for residents of the former US President's hometown of Plains, Georgia.

Approximately 3,000 people attended the concert on Thursday night (09SEP04), and the two were brought together again for a COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION special called CMT HOMECOMING: JIMMY CARTER IN PLAINS.

Nelson says of his pal, "I've always admired him. He did a great job as president."

The special will air in America in December (04).
