Winona Ryder Back In Court
Hollywood actress Winona Ryder returned to court today (07APR03), where a judge heard a progress report on her probation.
In December (02), JUDGE ELDEN FOX sentenced Ryder to three years probation and to undergo psychological and drug counselling, after she was convicted of stealing from the Beverly Hills, California, SAKS FIFTH AVENUE store.
Fox also ordered Girl, INTERRUPTED star Ryder to perform 480 hours of community service and to pay more than $10,000 (GBP6,600) in fines and restitution.
Ryder's attorney, MARK GERAGOS, presented documents to Fox indicating Ryder had completed the 480 hours of community service at CITY OF HOPE, a hospital in Duarte, California, for treating cancer patients.
Geragos said Ryder had continued to go to the hospital after completing her community service and had "formed lasting relationships with some of these terminally ill children".
Fox signed a form indicating Ryder had "accomplished what the court has ordered". He said he had received calls from City of Hope that were "very complimentary".
Fox told Ryder, "I want you to continue to do what you've been doing."
Ryder, who is continuing her drug and psychological counselling, is scheduled to have another hearing in six months' time.
