Carla Bruni, the former model and current first lady of France, showed off an "obvious" baby-bump while attending the G8 summit in the resort of Deauville this week, reports the UK's Daily Telegraph. Carla Bruni is allegedly pregnant with her husband Nicholas Sarkozy's child.
Posing for photographs with the wives of other world leaders, Bruni wore a loose-fitting smock dress to hide her bump. The 43-year-old is yet to confirm rumours she is expecting, but Sarkozy's father let the news slip when speaking to the Belgian magazine Le Soir, saying, "I have it on good authority that the baby will a boy". In recent weeks, Bruni has fended off questions about a possible pregnancy, telling one La Parisien reporter, "I would love to speak woman-to-woman of my family life, my personal dreams, of the details of certain things. Moreover I am very talkative. But here, in a way, I have my mouth sewn shut". Sarkozy, who is currently experiencing dwindling popularity in the polls, has also refused to comment on the reports. A former model and singer-songwriter, Bruni recently made the foray into acting, appearing in Woody Allen's new movie 'Midnight in Paris' which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month.
Carla Bruni was first introduced to the French president at a dinner party back in November 2007. After dating for several months the couple married at the Elysee Palace in Paris on 2nd February 2008.
