Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O is following in the footsteps of Damon Albarn by writing her own opera.
Blur rocker Albarn has moved from creating chart hits to working on stage shows, launching Monkey: Journey to the West in 2007, and Doctor Dee, an opera about 16th century English scientist John Dee, earlier this month (Jul11).
Karen O has now also embraced opera by writing a score about the "tragic joys of youth".
She has teamed up with playwright Adam Rapp for the as-yet-untitled project, which is slated to debut at an arts festival in New York in October (11).
Karen O has turned her hand to musical scores before - she wrote several pieces for 2009 movie Where The Wild Things Are.
