John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono rang in her 80th birthday by playing a star-studded gig in Germany.

The musician performed with her Plastic Ono Band at the Volksbuhne venue in Berlin on Sunday night (17Feb13), ahead of her big birthday on Monday (18Feb13), and she made sure it was a night to remember.

Ono was joined on stage by R.E.M. rocker Michael Stipe, Canadian electro star Peaches and British singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, as well as singing siblings Rufus and Martha Wainwright, and she was serenaded with versions of Happy Birthday in both English and German.

Ono expressed her delight in a series of posts on Twitter.com after the birthday show: "Thank you Peaches, Michael Stipe, Robyn Hitchcock and Rufus & Martha Wainwright for joining Yoko Ono Plastic Ono band tonight! What a night!... We had such a great time with Plastic Ono Band tonight at Volksbuhne in Berlin."
