Yoko Ono Sells Penthouse And Drops Lawsuit
Yoko Ono has dropped her lawsuit against officials for blocking the sale of her New York apartment, confirming she has secured a buyer for the penthouse.
John Lennon's widow launched legal action against the board of the Stable 49 apartment building last year (13), alleging they had made it impossible for her to sell her empty, top-floor residence in the building.
Ono claimed board members scuppered a $6.6 million (£4.1 million) deal to sell the property, and she sued for the sale amount plus $100,000 (£62,5000) in damages.
However, Ono dropped the lawsuit last month (Apr14) after arranging to sell the apartment for $8.3 million (£5.2 million).
Her lawyer Larry Hutcher tells the New York Daily News, "Yoko was able to sell the apartment and as a result of the board approving the sale, we withdrew the suit. It worked out. She's very happy with the result."
